11 Things Agents Love in Puerto Vallarta

Travel insights from VAX VacationAccess

Whether travelers are looking for a relaxing beach getaway or seeking an exhilarating adventure, Puerto Vallarta has a little bit of heaven for everyone. From its pristine sandy beaches to picturesque cobblestone streets, here are 11 tips and must-sees to share with your clients when they’re thinking of Puerto Vallarta.

1.It's such a unique town and so different from the Cancun area. The mountains are beautiful and the city has such a great vibe to it. The people are very friendly and it has a very welcoming feeling for families and the LGBTQ community as well.

2.Take time to walk around downtown and eat at a variety of restaurants. Have breakfast at a beachfront restaurant; the food is excellent and fairly inexpensive. If you are staying at a place with a kitchen, don't be afraid to shop at the local downtown produce and meat market. The selection is great and the produce is fresh as is the meat!

3.Travel light, the weather is beautiful! Be prepared to fall in love with the place.

4.At night, I always recommend Rhythms of the Night dinner and show. It is like nothing you have seen before and the food is outstanding. During the day, I recommend Las Caletas. They take you back to the same island that Rhythms of the Night is on but during the day. The island has beautiful soft sand, clear water, zip lining, a water slide into the ocean, paddle boards, kayaks, snorkeling from the beach, and unlimited drinks and lunch. They also have a sea lion experience, fly boarding, and a spa for additional fees. Bring money for pictures if you want to take home some of the memories.

5.There are so many activities to do in Puerto Vallarta, but to name just one it would be parasailing over the beach. This is one activity that is so exhilarating for people that it just takes your breath away and is an activity you will want to do over and over.

6.Not all resorts and beaches are created equal. You really need to research where to stay and look closely at the beach. Some beaches are more coarse and rocky than others because they have jetties surrounding them. Others are calmer with soft, sandy beaches. If you want to surf, you will want to stay on the Punta Mita side.

7.Make sure your clients visit the small town of Bucerias in Bandaras Bay. There is great shopping and an authentic Mexican village with lots of tourist options. Also try zip lining...the mountains are so beautiful!

8.Use one day to relax on the beach before you start doing excursions or other things. If you take one full day for you, then you will be well rested and ready to enjoy the plans you have made. Be sure to pack plenty of sunscreen, bug spray, water shoes, hats and a water bottle to stay hydrated.

9.I recommend doing a wellness activity because a lot of my clients are seeking wellness retreats and Puerto Vallarta is a hidden gem; from private homes to beachfront retreats. I'm a foodie, so I also encourage my clients to eat at local, non-tourist restaurants, road side food and even take a cooking class.

10.Check out the canopy tours; they offer a bit of everything for the adventure seekers.

11.Don't miss going into the city itself. It is gorgeous with the boardwalk along the ocean and the cobblestone streets. The old church is beautiful and not to be missed.
