Baja Adventures in Los Cabos

To blend passion for the outdoors with thirst for exploration, travelers to Los Cabos  have plenty of options. Baja Outback offers three specialized tours of Southern Baja’s hottest sites for adventure thirsty travelers to discover Los Cabos, and they cater to groups of up to 60 participants.

You will cruise the desert and beachfront terrain in style and learn about the area via communication linking all 10 cars to specially trained eco-guide (Federal credential) narrating the can’t-miss, behind-the-scenes glimpse of Baja’s flora, fauna, culture and history. Precision off-road Hummer driving guides are standing by to offer tips and tales on navigating the Baja terrain.

Your off-road adventure might begin at Todos Santos. Todos Santos is a quaint, artists retreat with gourmet restaurants and cafes, hand-craft shopping, art galleries, and historical sites. Instead of your typical on-the-road visit, Baja Outback takes you off-road. Additionally, you will discover the Pacific side of the peninsula to explore beautiful vistas and a special retreat to a rugged secluded beach. Lastly, participants enjoy a 3-course meal at La Coronela inside the legendary, recently remodeled, Hotel California.

Can you imagine waterfalls in the middle of the desert? Santiago, also known as “Cañon de la Zorra,” takes travelers into the mountains near Santiago in the area’s wild canyon region. Your adventure includes discovery of natural springs and an up-close and personal discovery of a waterfall with fresh water squirting out of granite boulders-of-rock (during the winter months). An energizing hike follows where you will see many of the indigenous plants and animals of the Baja, while visiting this biosphere reserve. This six-hour expedition includes a traditional Mexican three-course meal with two non-alcoholic beverages at the famous El Palomar Restaurant.

Smack-dab in the middle of nowhere, Rancho La Verdad is a working farm in Baja, a close 45-minute drive from Cabo. The off-road adventure drives through running water and down steep terrain before arriving at La Verdad. “The Truth” is a relatively new ranch (8 years old) where the little bit of underground water supplied by a natural spring makes for quite an efficient irrigational system! Walk through their vegetable garden and taste fresh papaya, figs, guavas, and tomatoes. Or pet their colorful roosters, quails and hens, and you’ll feel like you’re wearing (almost) a rancher’s boots.

For those wanting a more of a physical experience, the East Cape adventure journeys across desert terrain and through areas seemingly hidden behind the mountain range, where fossils dating back as far as 12 to 20 million years line canyons sitting in silent wait. Continue along the Sea of Cortez coast and stop in Los Frailes Bay for kayaking or some of the best snorkeling in Baja California Sur.  Or sit-back and enjoy some gentle relaxing. An ocean-front, picnic-style lunch is included.

The best part of the Baja Outback expeditions is that they are designed to be a learning experience, through interactions with the natural surroundings, and with the utmost safety.
