On June 16, 2020, the U.S. Government extended temporary agreements with Mexico to keep land border crossings closed to non-essential travel until July 21, 2020. This closure does not apply to air travel for tourism between Mexico and the U.S. and does not prevent U.S. citizens in Mexico from returning home, according to the U.S. State Department.
