Peaceful yet entertaining. Traveling alone to an adults-only property is certainly an interesting experience (I was there for an industry event), but I was excited to visit the gated community of Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic. Secrets Cap Cana is a lovely resort for couples, and there were certainly plenty to be found, however, there I witnessed girlfriends enjoying getaways together and groups of couples as well.
Relaxed. The resort is set on Juanillo Beach, which was the most pristine beach I have ever experienced. Soft, white, powdery sand led to the beautiful clear aqua colored water. You could walk out to the break and never lose your footing on the soft sand. There was minimal seaweed on the beach and even less in the water; it was such a wonderful beach experience. The pools were equally relaxing with just enough activities to break up the day.
My room was a junior suite king with a balcony. I overlooked a swim-up bar and could see lovely palm trees out to the ocean from my room. My balcony had a double hot tub complemented by a very comfortable couch and pillows. I had a double walk-in rainfall shower as well as a handheld shower with a bench and a double basin with ample vanity shelves for storage. The lighting in the room was very pleasant with many variations and a large ceiling fan to keep the island air moving.
My visit was short, as it was for business, but the resort had good Wi-Fi so I always felt connected. Don’t worry, I made certain to carve out time to experience the whole property. Walking on the beach I the mornings, sunning on the beach and swimming in the ocean was quite rejuvenating. I also had some time to make friends at the pool bar and watch kayak races in the water. The entertainment for one of my evenings was a Queen celebration – that was a blast! Oh the dancing I did, albeit alone, was fantastic!
I started each day at the wonderful Coco Café with a delicious espresso drink made to order with a delightful smile from my barista! I’m not usually a buffet kind of girl but Secrets Cap Cana had many options for breakfast. I went to the Seaside Grill for lunch each day and not only enjoyed the delicious food but loved gazing out at the beach and water while I ate. The ten on-site restaurants cycle being open, so it’s a great idea to check with the concierge to determine where you can plan on eating for dinner, but there are no reservations necessary. The Bordeaux offered French cuisine that was exceptional and definitely my favorite meal of my stay, which makes it remarkable since I really loved every meal on this property!
I can’t give you just one reason that I would go back! From the beach, the food, the exceptional hospitality and the ability to relax and rejuvenate at such an ideal property in such a beautiful destination, Secrets Cap Cana is a great vacation spot.
