Jamaica is Welcoming Visitors Again – Now with a New Form

Jamaica reopened its borders to international visitors on June 15, 2020. Now, as of the reopening, visitors to Jamaica need to obtain a travel authorization before checking in to a flight to Jamaica. According to the Jamaica Tourism Board (JTB), where travelers can obtain the travel authorization, “the sole use of the information collected here is to assess the health risks of all persons intending to travel to Jamaica” and to make the arrival and immigration process easier when arriving in Jamaica by auto-populating portions of the Immigration and Customs C5 form.

The travel authorization has four parts:

  1. Submit application
  2. Health risk assessment
  3. Communication
  4. Travel authorization

All visitors to Jamaica will also undergo temperature checks and a screening with public health officials. According to a June 10 press release from JTB, “If a temperature is elevated, the visitor will be subject to additional screening, including testing, if needed. Any visitor who exhibits symptoms or is ill will be subject to quarantine.” The country’s health and safety protocols will be revisited every two weeks to determine if any changes are needed.
