Travel insights from Andrea Sedlacek, editor of The Compass

January 2020 Editor’s Note

Happy New Year, agents!

I know you’re not supposed to dwell in the past, but we published some really cool articles in December that you may have missed if you, like me, took an extended holiday vacation. Check these out:

To kick off 2020, we’ve got a quick list of some notable celebrities and where they rang in the New Year. I don’t want to spoil it for you so read it now!

January’s focus on The Compass is a cool one: destination discovery. We know your clients are always looking for the next big thing, so we’ve got a lot of #travelinspo content coming your way so you can be one step ahead of them. Some is already live on The Compass, like our editor Taylor’s Morocco travel diary (seriously, what a cool experience!), a quick guide to Buenos Aires (what a beautiful city) and your ultimate guide to Tokyo (Queer Eye just filmed a mini season there!). There’s more to come, like:

  • India’s most popular tourist destinations
  • 2020 travel trends
  • Secret cruise destinations
  • Guide to Dominica (a seriously cool island in the Caribbean)
  • Stateside islands to explore

One more thing – January 28 is National Plan for Vacation Day. We know it’s peak season and you’re super busy but we highly recommend you taking a look at this piece and sharing it with your clients! Share it via email, on Facebook, print it out and give it to clients in your office – whatever you can do to get this message in front of people to get them planning their next trip with YOU.

And one more thing – I’m heading to Puerto Rico! That’s right, at the end of the month, I’ll be OOO and exploring the streets of Old San Juan, snoozing on the beach, touring the Bacardi distillery and hiking around El Yunque National Forest. As you may know, Puerto Rico just experienced devastating earthquakes, but the island is open for tourism and I am still headed there. Follow along with me on Twitter (@SedlacekAndrea) because you know I can’t resist sharing what I know will be an amazing time.
