Travel insights from Andrea Sedlacek, editor of The Compass

March Editor’s Note

Spring definitely hasn’t sprung yet here in Wisconsin but that can’t stop us from dreaming about warmer weather, especially since it’s Caribbean month on The Compass!

Before we get into that, I HAVE to talk about an exciting development on The Compass.

On February 25, The Compass went through a little growth spurt when we added two new categories! We launched a category called Making Waves, and it’s our new home port for all things cruise. The other category, which I am *so* excited about, is called Perspectives, and it’s dedicated to industry voices, included those of agents. What does this mean for you? Well if you’ve submitted your agent story to us (using this form – which is still open if you want to send yours in!), you may be featured in an article on The Compass. That’s right – your own words could be published for the world to see. Exciting, right?

We published an awesome story from a travel agent, who also happens to be a millennial, and it is a must-read. What a great story!

Another little change was the transition of the Travel Inspiration category to be your place to find shareable content to send to your clients. Have someone thinking of Mexico? Send them this list of Mexico’s coolest cenotes to help them seal the deal. Are your eco-conscious clients wanting to get away but want to make a minimal environmental impact? This list of eco-friendly domestic hotels can help convince them. The point is that we’ve done all the heavy lifting for you – you just have to send the article to your clients to get the wheels turning.

There’s a lot coming your way for Caribbean month, including lots of crowdsourced travel tips from VAX agents. St. Thomas is already live. Aruba is coming your way on March 15 and Turks & Caicos will be next. We’re working on the U.S. Virgin Islands now, so send your travel tip if you have one.

Our other focus this month is ♥romance♥. We’ve got a listicle of the top destinations for LGBTQ romance as well as romantic cities around the world, romantic cruise packages and some travel inspo to share with your clients to inspire them to take a romantic trip.

While we wait for warm weather, stay tuned to The Compass all month long – we’ve got good stuff coming your way.
