To have a business you need to make sales. To make sales you need leads. To find leads you need to market. This business is about destination expertise and relationships with clients and potential clients. Relationships take time. You cannot rush what requires time.
A lot of agents, wanting to rush the process, make mistakes.
Mistake 1: Wanting to ‘Sell It All’
When you are posting and hoping on something you know nothing about, it goes nowhere.
It’s easier to sell what you know. Same goes for your marketing. Focus on your expertise and let it shine through photos and videos in emails and on social media.
Ask yourself, “What type of booking(s) would I want to have over and over again?” Use that to guide your content plan.
Mistake 2: Focusing on Yourself Instead of Your Potential Client
My favorite restaurant at Universal Orlando is Mythos.
Instead of saying this, make it client focused: The restaurant I recommend the most to clients at Universal Orlando is Mythos.
This simple word swap allows you to put your expertise into the client’s perspective.
Mistake 3: Not Paying Attention to Details
You are a travel advisor, not an influencer. Spelling and grammar matter. Typing too fast and not proofreading is a mark of unprofessionalism. There is an edit button for a reason. For me, a lot of times I don’t notice the typo until it posts, but if I have one, I immediately go in and fix the mistake.
There is no “cheat code” for fast sales. Marketing requires time to nurture the seeds you plant to turn into leads. Taking the time to make sure you are being professional, speaking to your client’s point of view and narrowing in on your specialty will, over time, work.
