VisitBritain/VisitEngland is the newest destination to join Tourism Cares’ ever-evolving Meaningful Travel Map with the recent launch of the Meaningful Travel Map of England. Featuring a selection of local tourism experiences that “deliver tangible social, cultural, and environmental benefits across the country,” according to VisitBritain, the recently debuted resource shines a light on regional accommodations, attractions and tours that sustainably-minded vacationers will want to be sure to add to their itineraries.

The Meaningful Travel Map of England currently features 30+ partners and is expected to continue growing as more join in on the action. Inspired by VisitBritain/VisitEngland’s dedication to regenerative travel, the organization worked with Local Visitor Economy Partnership destinations — a collection of vetted, nationally supported businesses that transform the destination management landscape, support and grow local visitor economies, according to VisitBritain’s website — to select experiences that organize impact through four dedicated pathways: people, places, partnerships and growth.

"Partnering with Tourism Cares reflects our commitment to responsible travel,” said Carl Walsh, senior vice president of VisitBritain, USA. “This new map for England builds on the Meaningful Travel Map already available in Scotland, showcasing Britain’s wide range of responsible tourism experiences. It makes it easier for visitors from the US and around the world to explore thoughtfully while connecting with local communities, supporting small businesses, and protecting the landscapes and heritage that make these destinations so special.”

“VisitBritain, in partnership with VisitEngland and Tourism Cares, is excited to introduce the Meaningful Travel Map of England — a new way to discover authentic, immersive travel experiences that support communities, protect local places, and help the visitor economy grow in a more inclusive, accessible, and sustainable way,” said Tourism Cares. “Together with the US and UK travel industry, we strive to inspire meaningful travel and make a positive impact within England’s communities and the environment.”
