Lounging poolside with a good book and a cocktail is of course a relaxing way to spend a vacation, but exploring the surrounding area can end up leading to some of the best moments of a trip. Travelers visiting Montego Bay, Jamaica, are in luck, as there are endless activities all located within a short drive. Here are five things to do during a stay in this area.

Visit Chukka Eco-Adventure Outpost

There are several locations of Chukka Caribbean Adventures across Jamaica, but Chukka Eco-Adventure Outpost in Good Hope is a convenient location for tourists staying in Montego Bay to visit. Located along the Martha Brae River, guests are surrounded by the lush landscapes of the area.

Whether it’s an adrenaline-pumping activity visitors are in search of or a place to relax, Chukka Eco-Adventure Outpost has it all. There are water activities like bamboo rafting and river tubing, and those needing that extra thrill can choose to zipline or explore the area by e-bike. Appleton rum tastings are also available.

Host a Private Group Dinner

There’s nothing quite like a group vacation. From multigenerational family gatherings to intimate destination weddings, traveling with loved ones instantly takes the experience up a notch. Those looking to elevate a group vacation with an extra special moment can consider hosting a private dinner with a local chef.

Chef Walker recently opened Kitchen 721 in Whittier Village, but he also caters meals for groups. Whether it’s a juicy steak or authentic Jamaican jerk chicken, Chef Walker and his team always serve up high-end cuisine packed full of flavor.

Explore the Artisan Village

Authentic Jamaican artisans selling their products, dancers showcasing the destination’s history through entertainment, a behind-the-scenes look at making jerk chicken — all this and more awaits visitors at the Arisan Village at Falmouth, the area’s newest historical experiential attraction.

The facility is strategically situated at the former Hampden Wharf, which leads to the Falmouth cruise ship pier in Trelawny. While cruise ship visitors can conveniently walk through the village, guests of hotels in the area are also encouraged to check out this new attraction.

Set Sail With Ariso Kat Tours

The mantra at Ariso Kat Tours is to capture moments, enjoy luxury and experience Jamaica, and that’s exactly what guests on board one of the company’s yachts or catamarans get to do. Each tour is fully private, so groups feel as though they have the vessel all to themselves.

Guests can choose to do a snorkeling adventure, a sunset sail or customize an itinerary that works for them. During the sailing, passengers enjoy refreshing beverages and delicious bites. They’re also accompanied by a DJ, so it doesn’t take long for the yacht to be transformed into a dance floor.

Dine Around the Area

Many of the hotels and resorts in Montego Bay have restaurants to dine in. While this is a convenient option for visitors, it’s also fun to explore the surrounding eateries. Here are some restaurants to experience during a stay in this area:
