A colleague shared this interesting article with me, The World’s Best Cities of 2022 from AFAR,  and reading it got me to reminiscing about some of the cities I’ve been lucky enough to visit which turned out to be a heartwarming experience. I thought I’d share a few favorite memories of some of those cities and invite you to share comments about the cities you’ve been to.

#3 – New York City – I’ve been to NYC several times in my adult life and honestly, the memorable thing for me is the shows I have seen on Broadway. I will always be willing to travel to NYC because I am a Broadway fanatic and will never pass an opportunity to see one. The most memorable though was when I was staying in New Jersey for an agent event a few years back and ended up with an unexpected free night. I learned how to take the trains, make train connections, use the Today TIX app and run through the rain to get to the Shubert Theatre to see “Something Rotten” in the seventh row center for less than $100. So great!

#15 – San Francisco – I’ve enjoyed wine tastings in Napa Valley, Pier 39 and most recently Fisherman’s Wharf here. A couple of years ago on a conference at sea on a Norwegian cruise, we were diverted to go north rather than south due to a hurricane hitting Mexico. Our first stop was SFO and not many of us were dressed for the change in routing, but we disembarked and walked to Fisherman’s Wharf for a delicious lunch and to see many things are that area. It was wonderful. The departure sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge was quite memorable too.

#22 – Washington, D.C. – I’ve been here a few times as well and always love the opportunity to visit. One of my favorite memories was taking a non-rev flight with a colleague when I worked with Midwest Airlines. We flew in the first thing in the morning. We wandered and explored the National Mall, White House and Arlington National Cemetery. We met a college friend of mine and took the trains to his home so we could all go to a Tower of Power concert, which is truly one of our favorite bands of all time! It was an amazing day and evening.

What cities have you visited from this list and memories have you enjoyed?
