Destination weddings are exciting, but they also come with plenty of moving parts, from choosing a venue and coordinating travel for friends and family to managing the logistics along the way. That’s why couples need a trusted travel advisor who can bring clarity and confidence to the process from the very first conversation.

With the right approach, you can confidently identify the best-fit clients and understand what they’re looking for in order to eventually guide them toward a destination wedding experience that feels seamless from start to finish. Let’s dive into tips for attracting destination wedding clients.

Look the Part

Let’s be honest: these days, most people research a company online long before reaching out. That’s why you need to look the part from the very first touchpoint. If your agency’s website and social media channels don’t signal that you book destination weddings, potential clients may look elsewhere.

Showcase wedding-related content across your digital platforms so couples know you have the expertise to help bring their vision to life. The same goes for your office space if you have a storefront. If it looks like you book corporate groups or family travel without any signs of weddings, potential clients may choose to look elsewhere for their big day.

Partner With Local Businesses

As a travel advisor, relationship building is extremely valuable, and this is especially true for booking weddings. It’s important to build connections with local vendors such as photographers, bridal shops, makeup artists and jewelers. These professionals may be able to refer couples to you, and you can return the favor by recommending their services to your clients.

Talk to the businesses in your area and see what might work best for both of you. It could include reciprocal advertising, co-hosted events or splitting the cost of a booth together at various shows.

Attend Bridal Shows and Events

Speaking of shows, bridal shows and events can help attract a slew of business in a short amount of time. Look into wedding shows in your area and see what the investment looks like. It may not be cheap, so you’ll want to make sure you have a solid plan going into it in order to make the most out of the experience.

Outside of wedding shows, there are other events that could help draw in destination wedding business as well. Look into local events in your area. Many of them will have space for pop-up booths. You can also get creative and host a destination wedding event at a local winery, coffee shop or bridal shop.

Lean on Referrals

Referrals are always going to be one of the best ways to bring in new business. When a friend or family member tells you about a new place, you almost instantly trust that business. It’s no different when one of your clients tells someone in their network.

And it’s okay for you to ask clients to refer you – they likely have other friends in their group planning weddings, and if they had a great experience with you, they’ll be happy to refer your services. And while you’re at it, consider asking them for a testimonial to post on your website as well.
