The new Impression by Secrets brand caught the attention of travel advisors and avid travelers alike this year. Its promises of upscale accommodations, gourmet culinary delights and unique offerings were enough to pique the interest of those in search of the next best thing.

Prior to attending ALG Vacations’ Ascend 2023 conference, I had the chance to check out the new Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets property, and I can confirm it truly offers something new and exciting in the all-inclusive realm.

The Vibe

Time seems to stand still as you enter this resort. A relaxed vibe surrounds you, and there are so many private areas that it’s easy to feel like you have the place all to yourself. The ocean is the focal point from almost every part of the resort, and there is a clear focus on conservation and supporting the local community. For example, the artwork is done by local artists, and the resort has solar panels for water heating, avoids single-use plastics and has sea life protection programs.

How I Felt

Invigorated. A feeling of relaxation absolutely absorbs you during the stay, but a visit to this property leaves you feeling energized for whatever it is you need to return to back home. Unique offerings here that aren’t always available at other properties include bike tours, mediations and dance classes.

The Digs

With only 125 suites, everyone is staying in something luxurious. While the room itself was modern, comfortable and clean, my favorite area was the balcony. It faced the ocean and had comfortable seating, a hot tub and a hammock. Each room comes with butler service and Endless Privileges® inclusions.

The Agenda

I took advantage of a few of the wellness offerings during my stay, including the Island Biking Tour and a Sound Healing Meditation. Other activities include Aqua HIIT Training, Kayak Tours and Gratitude Ceremonies. A must during a stay at this resort is going to Punta Sur, about a half mile away, to watch the first rays of the sunrise hit the island.

The Eats

With seven restaurants and five bars, there’s something to satisfy every palate. While they are all worthy of a mention, Spezia stood out for its delicious menu items as well as its stunning sunset views over the water.

Why I Would Go Back

There are so many reasons why I would go back: the delicious cuisine, the wellness aspect, the stunning views from almost everywhere in the resort, but one thing I haven’t mentioned yet is how wonderful the service was. Everyone I encountered was friendly, welcoming and helpful. It instantly felt like a home away from home, and I think everyone who visits will leave dreaming about their next stay.
