The Vibe

Margaritaville Cap Cana is modern with a Caribbean feel. The all-white resort creates a contemporary vibe while the small details seen in the bright colors, the Adirondack chairs, and the surfboard showers keep the resort feeling laid back and beachy. What sets this resort apart from others is the live music that’s playing everywhere — near the pool, from above the brewery in the evenings and in the lobby at night. It keeps the overall vibe super upbeat and fun!

How I Felt

Life's a beach! I felt very relaxed and the mood was chill. There is a livelier setting if you hang near the swim up bar where live music was often playing or you could chill by one of the other many pools or the gorgeous beach if you want peace and quiet.

The Digs

Staying at Margaritaville Cap Cana feels like staying at someone's beach house. Like the rest of the resort, the rooms are contemporary with beach vibes. Cute little touches like fins for the sink knobs and imprints of parrots on the bedspreads that you could only see if you looked closely. Couples and travelers who are seeking a little more privacy will love the villas which come with gorgeous outdoor showers and the bottom floor units all connect to a private pool that’s complete with its own swim up bar!

One really unique thing about these rooms is the mini fridge. Rather than stocking it with the usual sodas, beers and juices, you instead have a set number of points you are awarded depending on your stay. You use these points in the market so you can stock your fridge with exactly what you want. I personally loved this as I rarely drink anything from the fridge except for soda water. With the points, I bought a bunch of San Pellegrino which I loved! The market offers all different types of craft beers, wine, liquor, chips, candy etc. so you can stock your room with good stuff that you will actually consume.

The Agenda

We started our days with breakfast at the buffet and then headed straight to the pool for relaxing. One day was cloudy and a little chilly so I read in one of the two Jacuzzis near the pool. Later that day, it poured rain and I was completely content to sit on the patio and just listen. We also got a great spa deal, so it was a perfect day to do hydrotherapy and get a massage. The gym is state of the art, but I sadly never got to use it because visiting the spa and eating took priority.

The Eats

You never have to wonder what food will be like at a Karisma resort and this was no exception. Food was exceptional whether you were at the buffet, the cafe or one of their many restaurants. You can't even call it a buffet as a lot of the items are made to order. For breakfast, try the ridiculously large breakfast sandwich on a gorgeous brioche bun. Or for lunch, try the tacos with all the fixings. The fries were fresh out the fryer every time.

Rum Runner is perfect for a relaxed, seated lunch with Caribbean options like oxtail and Sancocho, a popular Dominican soup. We made many stops at the cafe for a mean cappuccino and the best pistachio ice cream. We had the steakhouse for dinner one night and it was unbelievable, every single item was just amazing.

Why I Would Go Back

All of the above! Margaritaville Cap Cana is a family friendly resort but it isn't overrun by kids. I loved the size of the resort, the food, the service, all the different pools, fabulous beach and the fabulous location — just 10 minutes from the airport.
