Located in sunny Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, Paradisus La Perla, Riviera Maya, is an all-inclusive property owned and operated by Meliá Hotels International. The resort has family-friendly and adults-only offerings, making it an ideal choice for travelers of all varieties. Want to learn more? Come along to hear about my experience staying at this paradisiacal property in one of Mexico’s most coveted locales.
The Vibe
Private oasis. My visit to Paradisus La Perla was during Mexico’s “off-season” in the beginning of September. As such, the resort was quiet and relaxing with fewer guests than busier times of year, and my stay in the adults-only section of the property acted as a peaceful cherry on top to the experience. While the crowd was mostly conference attendees when I arrived at the hotel mid-week, more vacationers began to trickle in as the weekend approached, livening up the ambiance just the right amount.
How I Felt
Relaxed. I enjoyed the hotel’s laid-back atmosphere and a flexible conference schedule allowed me ample time to take advantage of my room’s swanky second-story balcony — complete with an outdoor Jacuzzi — in addition to different parts of the resort like the various lounges, restaurants and coffee stops. I spent a fair share of time visiting and saying “hi” to the local cats, and Paradisus La Perla’s spacious stretch of beach was a must-see with its distant views of Cozumel.

The Digs
I stayed in a Reserve Master Suite Nature View room and was quite impressed with the accommodations. The suite totaled 1140-square-feet and boasted all the bells and whistles including a spacious kitchen and dining room area, a full-size living room, an indoor and outdoor whirlpool bathtub and a comfortable king-size bed. As I mentioned above, my room included a private, walk out patio, and I spent hours enjoying the space with its serene treetop views and comfortable rocking chairs that proved perfect for sipping a morning coffee, catching up on work emails and making progress on my current read.
The Agenda
I was in the Riviera Maya attending Destination Britain Americas, an annual event hosted by VisitBritain to promote the region and its many destinations. The convention had 125 attendees ranging from travel advisors, destination reps, media members and more. Much of my days at Paradisus La Perla were spent attending media breakfasts, sitting in on sessions and meeting with DMOs, although I did have some downtime to explore in between appointments.

The Eats
The food at Paradisus La Perla was fabulous! I had the chance to eat at three different buffets — Naos, an adults-only buffet with international cuisine; Flora, a buffet specializing in local cuisine; and Hadar, a family-friendly buffet also serving international cuisine — in addition to Blue Agave Taqueria, a restaurant dedicated to authentic Mexican fare. The buffets had a wide range of selections and everything I tried tasted fresh and delicious. The food at Blue Agave was also scrumptious, and our group loved finishing our meals with made-to-order banana, Nutella crepes.
Why I Would Go Back
With its dedicated family-friendly and adults-only zones, Paradisus La Perla is a great choice for travelers of all varieties. I appreciated the peace and solace of the 18+ section while still having the freedom to explore the entirety of the property and its offerings. The wildlife at this hotel was abundant with coatis, cats, raccoons and iguanas abound which, although it may not be a plus for everyone, I thoroughly enjoyed. Finally, the accommodations at this hotel really made me feel like a swanky, important lady, and who doesn’t love that?
