IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its luxury and lifestyle portfolio with the recent opening of InterContinental Crete, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ inaugural property in the Greek Islands. The new hotel is the “embodiment of contemporary Grecian hospitality,” according to the brand, and travelers are sure to agree as they enjoy InterContinental Crete’s striking modern architecture, state-of-the-art amenities and breathtaking panoramic coastal views. InterContinental Crete is an all-ages property perfect for couples, families and multi-generational travelers alike with its wide selection of accommodating guestrooms, many of which boast private plunge pools and interconnecting capabilities.

In addition to lavish digs, guests of InterContinental’s newest property can enjoy two outdoor infinity pools nestled along the coast of Mirabello Bay, three Mediterranean-style restaurants — ZEUS, KNOSSOS and MINOAN — helmed by Michelin-starred Chef Consultant, Nikos Roussos, a nature-inspired wellness facility and various family-friendly activities. Designed to emulate its surroundings, the hotel is unique in its detailed approach to showcasing the region’s beauty and mythology through curated works from local artists in the form of original sculptures, bronze metalwork and more and via natural elements like majestic natural rock formations which have been seamlessly integrated into the property’s floor plan.

Continuing the Cretan influence, InterContinental Crete’s 199 guestrooms and suites radiate a feeling of serenity and elegance with their soft furnishings and crisp, contemporary linens. In the Classic and Premium rooms, guests will find private plunge pools, balconies, coffee-making facilities, walk-in showers and luxury toiletries. In the suites, travelers will discover a home-away-from-home with super king beds, furnished balconies with seaside views, walk-in showers and cozy sofa beds.

“Nestled amongst the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Crete beckons with its timeless natural beauty and captivating contrasts,” said InterContinental in a July 2024 press release. “As Greece’s largest island, Crete boasts a rich history, unique culture, stunning landscapes and panoramic vistas. From the majestic White Mountains to the vibrant Samaria Gorge, the island offers endless opportunities for exploration and adventure. Alongside its archaeological treasures, Crete’s warm hospitality and delectable cuisine provide a window into the island’s vibrant soul. The coastline, particularly picturesque Mirabello bay, invites travelers to relax on its sun-drenched shores and sail its crystal-clear waters, framed by charming villages like Agios Nikolaos. Crete’s blend of ancient marvels, natural scenery and distinct culture creates an unforgettable journey through Greece’s original island paradise.”
