Are you thinking about booking a trip to Europe? Do you have an African safari on your radar? Or maybe you want to finally check Australia off your bucket list? Whatever the case may be, you’ll want to know when the right time is to book those international flights.
CheapAir.com recently released its 2024 International Airfare Study, and they’re sharing all the details on how to secure the best deals when it comes to booking international airfare. The report looked at 917 million airfares in 10 global regions, and while it varies by region, the general consensus is that booking early is back.
Last year, booking about 45 days out for flights to Europe would usually get you the best prices. This is no longer the case, as research is currently showing the best prices when a flight is purchased 320 days in advance. The research did show affordable options closer to the departure date for regions including the Caribbean, Asia, South America and Canada.
While airfare can fluctuate quite a bit, booking early can be beneficial for several other reasons as well. Reserving a flight early on means you have more options to choose from and the best seats to choose from, not to mention you have a huge part of the vacation planning checked off your list which reduces stress.
The 2024 International Airfare Study also revealed that Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the prime days to book flights. February came in as the most cost-effective month for international travel, and July came in as the most expensive month.
"At CheapAir.com, we are committed to revolutionizing the way travelers explore airfare, fueling their international adventures with unwavering confidence," said Jeff Klee, CEO of CheapAir.com. "We dedicate our time to researching millions of airfares to empower travelers with essential insights for making informed travel decisions."
