Oceania Cruises and the American Cancer Society (ACS) have partnered to bring the ACS Relay For Life at Sea program to the brand’s valued guests, crew and team members. According to a June 2024 press release from Oceania Cruises, through this program, the duo aims to foster a community of encouragement aboard the cruise line’s ships and raise vital funds for cancer research, patient support services and advocacy efforts. Relay For Life at Sea is inspired by the original, land-based Relay For Life event in 1985. In the new, sea-faring iteration of the event, participants will take to the ship’s fitness track to compete in a friendly yet fierce competition to see who can complete the most laps.

The new onboard program is available aboard Oceania Cruises’ latest ship, Vista, and Insignia, which is currently completing her 180-day Around The World Cruise. Oceania Cruises plans to expand Relay For Life at Sea across its fleet over the next few months and aims to raise $150,000 for ACS by the end of 2024.

“We are incredibly excited to launch our collaboration with the American Cancer Society and introduce the Relay For Life at Sea program to our valued guests and crew,” said Frank A. Del Rio, president of Oceania Cruises. “This initiative reflects Oceania Cruises’ commitment not only to delivering exceptional travel experiences but also to making a positive impact in the communities we touch, consistently aiming to foster a spirit of unity. We look forward to seeing not only our guests, but our officers and team members, come together to celebrate survivors, honor those we’ve lost and contribute to the fight against cancer.”

At the end of participating voyages, Oceania Cruises will host a final get-together for relay-goers to share their achievements and celebrate the overall winners within various age groups. “With this new program, Oceania Cruises hopes to sail towards a brighter future, filled with love, laughter and a renewed sense of possibility,” said the brand.

Current and future guests can register for Relay For Life at Sea by visiting ACS’ website or scanning the QR code within Currents, Oceania Cruises’ onboard newsletter. Note: Relay For Life at Sea has a minimum donation fee of $25.
