About the Power Prompt Series

Each month, I’ll share a new “Power Prompt” designed to help travel advisors harness the power of AI — without the tech overwhelm.

These bite-sized guides turn AI into a friendly creative partner, showing you how to use simple, strategic prompts to grow your business, save time and spark inspiration.

Whether you’re crafting social media content, refining client communication or uncovering travel trends, each Power Prompt makes AI fun, approachable and human. Think of it as your monthly master key to working smarter — not harder — with the help of smart tech.

The Email Campaign Architect

Sending an email is easy. Building an email campaign that actually takes someone on a journey? That takes a little more thought.

Maybe you want to promote a new cruise itinerary, generate interest in Europe for next summer, reconnect with past clients, introduce a new service or turn inquiries into consultations. One email probably isn't going to do it.

That's where this month's Power Prompt comes in.

Instead of asking AI, "Write me an email about river cruising," you're going to give it a goal and ask it to build the strategy behind an entire campaign.

Even better, you don't have to know exactly what to ask for. This prompt tells AI to interview you first, understand what you're trying to accomplish and then build a sequence in which every email has a purpose — and naturally leads to the next.

The Prompt (Human-Optimized Version)

“Act as an email marketing strategist who specializes in relationship-based travel businesses. Help me build a complete email campaign for my travel business.

My campaign idea or goal is: [briefly describe what you want to promote or accomplish].

Before creating anything, interview me. Ask me up to 7 questions, one at a time, to understand:

  • My travel business and specialty
  • Who this campaign should reach
  • What I want the reader to ultimately do
  • What I'm promoting, if anything
  • Why this matters to my audience
  • My brand personality and natural communication style
  • Any timing, offer, deadline or important details you should know

Once you have enough information, create a strategic email sequence designed specifically around my goal.

Decide how many emails the campaign actually needs rather than automatically choosing a number.

For each email, provide:

  1. Purpose — what this email needs to accomplish within the larger campaign.
  2. Subject Line — compelling and natural, without clickbait.
  3. Preview Text — a short line that complements the subject.
  4. Opening Hook — the first sentence or idea that earns attention.
  5. Email Copy — concise, conversational, and ready to personalize and send.
  6. Call to Action — one clear next step.
  7. Recommended Timing — when this email should be sent in relation to the previous one.

Build the sequence so it feels like one continuing conversation rather than a collection of unrelated emails. Each message should move the reader naturally from awareness to interest, trust, desire and ultimately action.

Keep the writing warm, specific and unmistakably human. Use contractions and natural sentence variation. Avoid corporate marketing language, exaggerated claims, generic travel clichés, excessive adjectives and phrases that sound AI-generated.

Don't make every email a sales pitch. Use storytelling, helpful information, curiosity, expertise and personal perspective where appropriate.

If my campaign idea is too broad or you see a stronger angle, tell me before building the sequence.

Finally, give me a simple Campaign Roadmap showing the entire sequence at a glance: Email → Purpose → Timing → Desired Action.”

Example Output: 'Why Wait?' Future Travel Campaign

Campaign Goal: Reconnect with past travelers who haven't booked their next vacation and inspire them to start thinking about what's next.

AI Recommendation: A four-email sequence over approximately two weeks.

Email 1 — Start With a Question
Purpose:
Rekindle the emotional desire to travel without selling anything.
Subject: “So…where are you going next?”
Angle: Remind readers how quickly the calendar fills up and invite them to think about the place they've been saying they'll visit “someday.”
CTA: Hit reply and tell me the destination that's been sitting on your wish list.

Email 2 — Turn “Someday” Into an Idea
Purpose:
Move the reader from dreaming to imagining a real trip.
Subject: “Let's play with an idea”
Angle: Show how a vague dream — Italy, Alaska, Japan, a safari — starts becoming exciting when you add the right season, experiences and travel style.
CTA: Tell me the one trip you've always wanted to take.

Email 3 — Why Planning Earlier Changes the Trip
Purpose:
Introduce advisor expertise and create natural urgency.
Subject: “The trips I wish people planned sooner”
Angle: Explain how earlier conversations can mean better choices, better pacing and access to experiences travelers may not know exist.
CTA: Let's start the conversation before you need to make any decisions.

Email 4 — Your Next Trip Starts Here
Purpose:
Convert interest into a planning conversation.
Subject: “Want me to help you figure out what's next?”
Angle: Remove the pressure of having everything figured out before contacting an advisor. Sometimes the first step is simply a conversation.
CTA: Schedule a travel planning conversation.

Campaign Roadmap:
Curiosity → Imagination → Expertise & Timing → Conversation

Result:
Instead of sending another “Ready for your next vacation?” blast, you've created a deliberate conversation that gives the reader four different reasons to re-engage with you.

Why This Power Prompt Works

Starts with strategy: AI understands the goal before it starts writing.

Does the questioning for you: You don't have to be an email marketing expert to provide the right inputs.

Creates continuity: Each email has a job and moves the reader toward the next step.

Works for almost any campaign: Destinations, cruises, groups, promotions, past-client reactivation, lead nurturing, events, or seasonal travel.

Follow-Up Power Move

Once your campaign is built, don't immediately hit send. Ask AI to become your toughest reader:

“Now evaluate this entire campaign from the perspective of the traveler receiving it. Identify anything that feels generic, repetitive, overly promotional, predictable or AI-written. Tell me where you would lose interest. Then revise only those areas to make the campaign more personal, compelling and human.”

Takeaway Box

🧳 This Month's Power Lesson

The power isn't asking AI to write faster. It's asking AI to think bigger.

Instead of creating one email, give it the outcome you're trying to achieve. Let it ask questions, develop the strategy, map the customer journey and then help you execute it.

That's the difference between using AI as a writing assistant and using it as a marketing strategist.
