As of Aug. 16, 2021, all guests and employees of hotels, paradores (inns), guesthouses and short-term rentals on the island must be vaccinated. Hotel guests must show proof of vaccination in order to stay at overnight accommodations across the island.
A few additional measures also went into effect on Aug. 16:
- Those not vaccinated must present a negative PCR or antigen test taken within 72 hours of the beginning of their visit.
- If staying longer than one week, patrons must continue to present negative tests on a weekly basis.
- Those not vaccinated due to medical or religious reasons must provide proper documentation, such as medical notes or signed affidavits, and are still required to present negative tests on a weekly basis.
Masks are also required to be worn in all indoor spaces, regardless of a person’s vaccination status.
On Aug. 23, all patrons and employees of restaurants, food courts, bars, chinchorros (food stands) and any other indoor location where food and beverages are prepared and served must show proof of vaccination in order to enter. Those not vaccinated will be required to provide a negative PCR or antigen test upon entry. Children under the age of 11 are required to keep masks on at all times while in the establishment, except for when eating or drinking.
