With sprawling white sand beaches that exist alongside mountains and rainforests, the island of Jamaica ranks high on travelers’ bucket lists. The stunning views and sunny days draw visitors in, and the vibrant culture and delicious cuisine keep them coming back time and time again.
While RIU Hotels & Resorts has six other properties on the island, joining Riu Montego Bay, Riu Palace Jamaica, Riu Reggae, Riu Palace Tropical Bay, Riu Negril and Riu Ocho Rios is Riu Palace Aquarelle, which just opened on May 4, 2024. It’s the seventh RIU hotel in Jamaica but the resort company’s first property in Falmouth.
The all-inclusive resort has 753 rooms, including 26 family suites, and is located 35 minutes from the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. It’s an ideal spot for families of all sizes as well as groups of friends.
The Junior Suites and Suites are spacious with a fresh, modern décor that includes earth tones and organic patterns. Most rooms treat guests to panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea, and anyone looking for an elevated stay can choose a Swim Up Junior Suite — allowing guests to conveniently enjoy a soak in a pool just steps from their door.
By now, most advisors and travelers are familiar with Splash Water World, RIU’s aquatic, entertainment funplex located at a number of RIU properties, and guests staying at Riu Palace Aquarelle are in luck, as this property has an aquatic park onsite. In addition to passing the time by zipping down water slides, guests can engage in other activities including kayaking, beach volleyball and snorkeling.
The entertainment program at this resort runs all throughout the day and into the evening and includes amusement for both children and adults. Riu Palace Aquarelle is also located less than two miles away from the Luminous Lagoon Glistening Waters, where visitors can experience an enchanting evening water phenomenon.
When it comes to cuisine, the flavors at the jerk grill station, Pepe’s Food, do not disappoint, but this is only one of six dining options. Other eateries include White Bay, the main buffet; Krystal, the gourmet restaurant; Napoli, the Italian option; Kyoto, the Asian option; and Steakhouse, the grill. Even the pickiest of eaters will find something to enjoy. In addition to these restaurants, the resort has four bars, two of which are swim-up bars, and an ice cream parlor. To top it off, guests can indulge in 24-hour room service, so it’s almost impossible to go hungry.
While the property draws in families and groups, it also has a romantic side. Lovebirds in search of starting their “happily ever after” in Jamaica can choose to do so at Riu Palace Aquarelle. RIU’s Wedding Collections make it easy to say “I Do” in the style, as couples have five different packages to choose from. From a simple ceremony to an elegant affair, the resort can make any wedding couple’s dreams come true.
