Tourism Cares, a non-profit dedicated to advancing the travel industry’s positive social, environmental and economic impact, is constantly aiding in making the travel industry a better place. From it’s various events to the impactful resources (like the Meaningful Travel Map), the organization offers plenty of ways for people to get involved.

Its latest resource has been revealed in honor of National Volunteer Month: A Guide to Responsible Volunteering. It’s no surprise Tourism Cares is a pro in this department, as its legacy was built on volunteer service. Starting with a program created after September 11, the company has been bringing travel professionals together in many different ways to lend a helping hand to communities that need it.

Everyone wants to volunteer, but it’s not always easy to know if you’re making a true impact. A Guide to Responsible Volunteering offers best practices, checklists and key considerations to help volunteers to make the most of their time and ensure they truly benefit the destination they’re aiming to help.

The guide shares principles of responsible volunteering, questions to ask to see if it’s a good fit, education on accessibility and more. Whether you’re planning something for part of a conference or you’re interested in volunteering independently, this guide is an excellent resource to reference during your planning process.
