It’s not every day that travelers have the chance to make nautical history, but recently unveiled party plans by Virgin Voyages may prove to be the perfect opportunity. Sir Richard Branson, Virgin’s founder, announced last Friday that the Lady Ships are meeting at sea in 2027, making it the largest celebration ever held on the open ocean. It’s the first time in history that any cruise line or maritime operators brought an entire fleet to a single coordinate at the same moment, but more importantly, it’s a thank you to all the passengers who supported the adults-only brand from the start.
The event, dubbed “Sisters at Sea,” is scheduled for Feb. 16, 2027, nearly six years to the day that Scarlet Lady was first delivered. All four of the brand’s award-winning vessels are participating in the momentous occasion, including Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady, Brilliant Lady and, of course, Scarlet Lady. According to the official press release, the sisters will converge at 22°12'57" N, 77°16'07" W in the Caribbean, 38 nautical miles north of Nuevitas, Cuba, with nothing but miles of open ocean surrounding the revelry.
"When we launched Scarlet Lady, we had a vision, and that vision was always four ships but one community," said Branson. "This fleetwide meet-up is that dream made real. At Virgin, we want to be the reason someone smiles today. Next year, 15,000 smiles at sea are guaranteed as we celebrate our brilliant Crew and the hundreds of thousands of Sailors who truly own this gathering. Thank you to each and every one of you for being the wind in our sails."
The Party Plans
With all four ships embarking on this joyous adventure, 15,000 passengers and crew members will share an unforgettable day. A synchronized horn salute will kick off the event, followed by non-stop music and movement on each deck and aerial cinematography capturing the festivities from above.
"There are voyages, and then there are moments that are so epic they become lifelong memories. Sisters at Sea is the latter, and we have so much planned to blow your mind and make you laugh and cry with joy,” said Nathan Rosenberg, chief marketing officer for Virgin Voyages. “When those four ships are on the water together, and we hear the collective cheers from every Crew member and Sailor, it will be proof that nothing is more powerful than the community that loves and supports you and that we are better together.”
