No matter where you are in your travel advisor career, education is always going to be a big part of your job. Whether it’s learning about a new to you destination, a new airline policy or a new supplier, there’s always something to learn about. It’s crucial to stay up to date on everything in order to share the most relevant information with clients.

If you’re brand new to working with ALG Vacations, or even if you’ve booked before but want a deep dive into the brands, it might be time to take the ALGV Pro Certification. This online travel advisor specialist program not only allows you to learn new things, but it also provides exclusive benefits and has resulted in higher performance for advisors who have completed the course.

“ALGVPro was built with our advisor partners in mind and shaped by their feedback every step of the way,” said Jacki Marks, global head of trade sales & engagement at ALG Vacations. “They helped test, guide, and refine the experience, which is why it feels so intuitive and easy to navigate. It’s ultimately about helping them work more efficiently and grow their business.”

What Is the ALGVPro Certification?

This educational course is self-paced and meant for advisors to be able to learn more about the destinations, products, brands and services that fall within ALG Vacations. Advisors discover the similarities and differences across the brands so they can decipher which ones most align with their clients’ needs and preferences.

Topics range from time-saving tips and navigating VAX VacationAccess to selling Europe and determining which travel insurance option to choose for clients. The modules are short, ranging from three to 11 minutes, meaning advisors can complete the program during pockets of open time throughout the week.

“ALGVPro is designed to fit into an advisor’s schedule, not disrupt it,” said Jim Tedesco, vice president of sales at ALG Vacations. “The content is broken into short, focused modules that can be completed at their own pace, making it easy to keep learning without having to carve out large blocks of time.”

Advisors tend to start with the Recommended Path, which covers the basic curriculum before moving on to the advanced material. However, seasoned advisors wanting to take the course can opt to test out of the ALGV 101 modules and begin with the Accelerated Path.

“We know advisors don’t have time for complicated training programs,” Tedesco said. “ALGVPro keeps it straightforward with digestible content they can access when it works for them, and come back to whenever they need a refresher.”

ALGVPro Active

Anyone who has worked in the industry for a while knows continuing education is important, and it’s always a good idea to brush up on the latest information.

Those who have completed ALGVPro can choose to take ALGVPro Active, a refresher course. It’s designed to keep advisors up to date on the latest enhancements. They won’t be repeating modules, but instead completing short new ones covering any updates they may have missed since they first completed their certification.

ALGVPro Launches in Spanish

ALG Vacations recently announced the launch of the Spanish-language version of ALGVPro, making the platform more accessible to Spanish-speaking travel advisors.

“At ALG Vacations, we are committed to supporting a diverse and evolving community of travel advisors,” Marks said. “Expanding ALGVPro into Spanish is an important step in making our education platform more accessible, while empowering more advisors to build confidence, increase sales, and deliver exceptional experiences for their clients.”

Benefits for ALGVPro-Certified Advisors

Travel advisors with an ALGVPro certification tend to have better performance overall, in addition to selling more Travel Protection Plus (TPP), Exclusive Nonstop Vacation Flights (ENVFs) and higher value products — which means more commission in their pockets.

The benefits go beyond increased knowledge and commission though. Advisors earn up to five CEU credits from The Travel Institute as well as exciting prizes. Also, only ALGVPro-certified advisors are eligible to win prizes and earn WAVEMAKER status, and it’s a requirement to be certified to attend FAM trips and most events throughout the year.

“Supporting advisor success is at the core of everything we do, and ALGVPro is a clear example of that commitment,” Marks said. “It’s one of the ways we’re continuing to invest in solutions that make a meaningful difference—built not just for advisors, but with their direct input.”
