It’s always important for travel advisors to be transparent with their clients, but sometimes hidden expenses such as resort fees and in destination taxes have a way of sneaking up later in the booking process.

ALG Vacations is helping advisors be more transparent by including these taxes and fees that are payable in destination in the total vacation price, so they can tell their clients exactly what the entire trip will cost. The fees will show on the Apple Vacations, Funjet Vacations, Travel Impressions, Southwest Vacations®, Blue Sky Tours and United Vacations® summary screens. The breakdown of what advisors and their clients will now see includes the following:

  • Pay to {brand} $ amount
  • Pay in Destination $ amount
  • Total Package Price – the all-in price per booking
  • Price per Person – the all-in price per person

Before this enhancement, taxes and fees paid to third parties appeared in the Hotel Advisories or Features sections, so it’s important to note that the overall price may now appear higher than it has in the past.

At this time, these in destination fees will not appear on e-confirmations, e-itineraries or compare itinerary and sales email tools, but future enhancements are in progress for these.

“We are thrilled to deliver these major pricing enhancements to our brand websites and ALGVacations.com,” said Jacki Marks, global head of trade brands at ALG Vacations, in an email to travel advisors. “Thank you for your support as we continue to make technology updates providing pricing transparency to you and your clients.”
