RIU Plaza Toronto

In a historic moment for the popular hotel brand, RIU Hotels & Resorts achieved a new milestone upon opening the doors to Riu Plaza Toronto, the company’s first hotel in Canada, earlier this fall. A new build featuring 352 rooms scattered across 23 floors, the contemporary hotel is situated in the heart of the city, offering widespread views of the metropolis’ skyline and incomparable access to the vibrant Entertainment District, one of Toronto’s trendiest neighborhoods. Riu Plaza Toronto comprises two twin skyscrapers with a brick base facade designed to match the look of its 18th century neighbors. Inside, guests will be greeted by a bright and welcoming atmosphere, complete with a lobby bar and an onsite restaurant serving the brand’s signature RIU Plaza full buffet breakfast on the second floor.

“This opening represents a significant achievement for RIU as Canada is one of the most significant markets for the hotel chain, especially in destinations like the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America,” said RIU. “Canadian travelers know RIU and truly appreciate the brand. Now, for the first time, they can enjoy an RIU experience without leaving their home country. The RIU Plaza Toronto is the twelfth hotel in RIU’s urban line, joining those in Panama, Guadalajara (Mexico), Madrid, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Berlin, London and Dublin."

Viva Miches by Wyndham

Viva Miches by Wyndham enjoyed a star-studded inauguration after the property ceremoniously welcomed guests with the help of Luis Abinader, president of the Dominican Republic, in June 2025. Opening in two phases, the resort currently features 538 guest rooms alongside five internationally inspired restaurants, entertainment areas and all-inclusive services. Following the completion of the second phase, Wyndham says the property will include 750 rooms and represent a $130 million investment by the brand.

“Thirty-eight years ago, we began our story in the Dominican Republic with a pioneering spirit,” said Ettore Colussi, founder and president of Viva Resorts by Wyndham. “That same spirit led us to discover destinations like Bayahibe, and today it brings us to Miches with the same enthusiasm- reaffirming our promise to offer the best beaches, infused with the joy and hospitality that define us. Viva Resorts by Wyndham is a true ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the world. We proudly carry the identity of our beaches, our culture, and the Dominican spirit to destinations like Mexico and the Bahamas.
