For more than twenty years, AmaWaterways has stayed true to the values that inspired its founding families. What began as a vision for heartfelt hospitality and thoughtful exploration has grown into a river cruise experience known for warmth, cultural depth and a genuine sense of connection. Today, guests can discover Europe’s iconic waterways, Egypt’s storied Nile, the wildlife rich Chobe River in Africa, the Mekong in Southeast Asia and Colombia’s vibrant Magdalena River. Discover what’s new with AmaWaterways and where your journey might take you next.

Refreshed Look With a Familiar Spirit

This year, AmaWaterways introduced a refreshed visual identity that honors its heritage while embracing the future. Although the look has evolved, the essence of the experience has not. Guests will still find the same attentive crew, the same thoughtfully designed ships and the same commitment to revealing the cultural heart of each destination.

AmaWaterways supports that idea with itineraries shaped by deep local insight. Guests can choose guided experiences that bring context to each region or venture out independently with time to explore at their own pace. Both options allow space for curiosity and the freedom to travel in a way that feels personal.

Enrichment Through AmaWaterways | Smithsonian Journeys

In spring 2026, AmaWaterways will introduce select departures in alliance with Smithsonian Journeys, offering experiences designed for travelers who love learning through exploration. Each departure features two Smithsonian Journeys Experts who bring specialized knowledge and engaging perspectives that enhance the journey.

These departures include curated visits to places such as the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris, the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and the archaeological landscapes of Portugal’s Côa Valley. The days offer insight and discovery while evenings feel relaxed and convivial, blending inspiration with the comfort that defines an AmaWaterways journey.

AmaSofia Arrives on the Rhine and Danube Rivers

A highlight of the year is the debut of AmaSofia, the newest addition to the AmaWaterways fleet. The ship blends contemporary elegance with the warm atmosphere that guests have long appreciated. Spacious staterooms offer sweeping river views, and many feature the signature twin balcony design that combines a French balcony with a full outdoor balcony. Public spaces on AmaSofia are designed to feel inviting and easy to settle into. The Journeys Restaurant showcases regional flavors with thoughtful menus, and The Lark Lounge and Bar provides a bright, comfortable space to gather.

AmaSofia will begin her season on the Rhine between Amsterdam and Basel, then transition to the Danube in summer. The 7-night Melodies of the Danube itinerary is especially well suited for first-time river cruisers and travelers seeking both cultural depth and scenic beauty. Guests can explore Budapest and Vienna, enjoy full day experiences in Salzburg or Český Krumlov and take part in an exclusive Oktoberfest celebration in Vilshofen.

Immersive River Cruising on Colombia’s Magdalena River

AmaWaterways is also bringing its distinct style of river cruising to Colombia’s Magdalena River, a lifeline stretching nearly 950 miles through the heart of the country. With the recent launches of AmaMagdalena and AmaMelodia, the company continues its commitment to sustainable tourism and meaningful cultural connection.

The 7-night Magic of Colombia and Wonders of Colombia itineraries invite guests into the country’s vibrant spirit, each day reveals a new facet of Colombia’s character. In Sabanagrande, village life unfolds in quiet moments as artisans weave stories into their crafts and local delicacies invite you to taste tradition. In the Magangué region, nature takes center stage while you glide through Boca de Tacaloa listening for the calls of rare birds and feeling the energy of this ecological haven. In Barranquilla, Carnaval traditions shine with color and music with an exclusive performance just for AmaWaterways guests.
