The Partier
If you think no vacation is complete without poolside shindigs, boisterous beach clubs and watching the day slowly transition into night, you might be “The Partier,” a traveler who’d rather spend their precious PTO time dancing into the wee hours of the morning than waking up early to catch a sunrise. Matching the energy this type of vacationer brings to the function is Ibiza’s Playa d’en Bossa, the country’s largest stretch of beach at just over a mile long that doubles as a party hotspot for locals and tourists alike. Jam-packed with trendy bars, fan-favorite restaurants and no shortage of beach, day and night clubs to suit any mood, entertainment-loving travelers will want to be sure to add Playa d’en Bossa to their vacation wish list.
The Social Media Star
Thailand’s Maya Bay has long been considered one of the world’s most “Instagrammable” beaches, making it a dream destination for rising “Social Media Stars” looking to add some swoonworthy new content to their TikTok or Instagram feed. With vibrant, blue-green waters, soaring limestone rock formations and pure, white sand, this coveted spot in the country’s Krabi province is certainly worth a visit (and don’t forget to wear your cutest vacation outfit so you can look your best when you document all the fun). In addition to the beach’s social media allure, Maya Bay is notable for its appearance in “The Beach,” a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio that came out in early 2000.

The Animal Lover
A spot with ties to Charles Darwin as it was one of the explorer’s first landing spots when he arrived in the Galapagos in 1835, San Cristobal Island’s Cerro Brujo is one of the world’s best beaches for chance encounters with wildlife. Home to Galapagos sea lions, marine iguanas and a variety of seabirds, including blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds and Nazca boobies, animal lovers will find nature and unforgettable beach days go hand-in-hand when they take the time to visit this historic stretch of sand. But the excitement doesn’t stop on dry land as with calm, shallow waters, Cerro Brujo is the perfect place to take a dip, and those who remember to bring a snorkel and mask might be treated to an underwater show starring colorful reef fish, green sea turtles, majestic sting rays and even sharks.
The Foodie
If you’re always down to try a new restaurant, can’t get enough of sampling local grub while on the road or are always plotting your next meal, you fall into “The Foodie” category. Luckily for epicures, one of the globe’s most sought-after beach vacation destinations also happens to be a perfect match for hungry adventurers: Hawaii’s Waikiki Beach. Situated on the island of Oahu, Waikiki Beach plays host to no shortage of incredible eateries, from fresh seafood and poke bowls to spam and shaved ice, this iconic spot has it all. While the area has plenty of options to choose from, Duke’s Hula Grill stands out from the crowd as the restaurant boasts a prime location right on the sand making it an ideal location for lunch, snacks and dessert (hello, Hula pie). Of course, Duke’s slings a mean cocktail, too, and travelers love their signature, tiki cup Mai Tai.
The Hiker
Those who prefer to admire waterfront views from the comfort of a rugged shoreline won’t want to miss their chance to explore Washington State’s Ruby Beach, a quintessential natural attraction inside Olympic National Park. Known for its towering sea stacks, abundant tide pools, ruby-colored sand (hence the name Ruby Beach) and piles of massive, battered driftwood, this beautiful site is an epic backdrop for a scenic stroll or pitstop, and the area even features an accessible viewing area for wheelchair-users and visitors with other mobility aids. Those wanting to hike beyond the main drag can head south along the shore to the mouth of the Quinault River or go north during low tide to reach the mouth of the Hoh River.
The Hobbyist
If you’d rather spend time in the water versus next to it, your beach personality might be what we’re calling “The Hobbyist,” someone who will never turn down the opportunity to try their hand at a new water-based activity. From surfing and body boarding to kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling and beyond, Australia’s world-famous Bondi Beach fits the bill for beachgoers who love adding a healthy dose of physical activity to their getaways. Of course, as an elite destination for surfing, the board-based sport reigns supreme, and travelers looking to get in the water can do so by taking a guided surfing lesson led by a local tour operator.
